WHP volunteer Sand Wren translates in a dialog between WHP president, Denny Genovese and Village leader, Freddy Rodriguez of San Salvador, Costa Rica.

Thanks to Freddy's leadership, his village has the purest water in all of Costa Rica, and probably in all of Central America.

In this dialog, we discussed the intimate relationship with nature that has shaped Costa Rican life for 500 years, and the challenges to this way of life brought about by recent social, economic and technological changes.

With Sand's help, Denny and Freddy developed a plan to increase the income of the village and it's families through Cultural activities, Nature education and Eco-tourism.

ECONOMIC

- Development of sustainable economic strategies for individuals and villages

- Development and implementation of owner and community built, green housing solutions

Permaculturist, Deseree Wells facilitates the construction of a Solar Cooker.

HEALTH

- Advancement of wholistic and preventive health practices, including nutrition, exercise and hygiene

- Provision of Counseling services

This efficient Composting Toilet quickly kills pathogens and produces usable compost within 2 years.

Note: Health departments of some states of the USA, including Pennsylvania, prefer these composting toilets to flush toilets and septic systems, because they do not pollute ground water, and help to conserve potable drinking water.

SOCIAL

- Education for sustainability and quality of life for individuals and communities

- Teaching of non-violent communication, problem solving and conflict resolution

These children are learning the skills to create the things that they want.
