Places to Learn and Live Sustainability

World Harmony Project is proposing an International network of organizations and communities that Develop, Practice and Demonstrate Sustainability.

The communities could function in a variety of ways, including Schools or Universities, Art or Community centers, Healing centers, Sustainable industries, Retirement communities, Conservation or Reforestation centers, Recreation centers, Eco-tourism, etc.

Each center would provide a base of operations for local and/or global efforts to educate, enhance life quality, reduce pollution and/or generally improve environmental conditions.

The centers would also provide housing,  sustenance, community and other resources for those engaged in working for the long term survival of our planet.

Communication and travel between these centers would enhance their development and effectiveness. It could also provide a medium for students to achieve a global viewpoint with concrete examples of Sustainability in the various locations.

Submit an Organization or Community for inclusion in the Network

History

The first World Harmony Center was established in Gainesville, Florida in 1992.

It was a humble effort on 11 acres of forest land that housed our Organizational Headquarters, Music Studio, Workshop and Housing for staff and residents.

Perma-culture, Organic gardening, composting, solar water heating, etc. where practiced along with Music teaching and Cultural planning.

Green building techniques were utilized for student housing.

Holistic therapists were on hand for the benefit of residents and visitors, as well.

This project continued for seven years, until our lease expired and we were unable to locate another site at which to continue.

Since then, the vision has been nurtured for a future flowering by a core group of WHP supporters.

We are currently developing a plan for a World Harmony Center in Costa Rica that will include a University of Sustainability, a Wholistic Healing Retreat and an International Arts Center.
